MATC Libraries’ limited supply of Chromebooks and Hotspots available for checkout is changing from 'first come, first served' to an application process. The application is currently closed, but will reopen by 12/16/2024 for the Winterim and Spring semesters. Fill out this form, if you have questions about an application you already filled out. Equipment is limited to the available stock and will be issued to qualified applicants.
Once the application re-opens in December, you must fill out the application to be considered; equipment is not guaranteed. If approved, you will be notified in your MATC email. You must pick up the device by the specified date in the email, otherwise the equipment will be assigned to another student and you will be placed back on the waitlist. You can also sign up for Text Message Alerts and get notifications on your mobile phone as well. The approval process can take up to 5 business days or longer during peak periods.
- A Stormer Pass/MATC ID is required for checkout.
- Devices must be returned by the due date.
- Devices may not be renewed and must be returned for maintenance before they are available for checkout again.
- Overdue late fees and replacement charges will be applied if devices are not returned by the due date, and all devices will automatically be deactivated.
- Please return them to the Libraries' Circulation Desk and NOT in an outside drop box as this may cause damage.
For information about Chromebooks, see our Chromebook FAQ.
Other technology options available:
- Students may use financial aid to purchase devices at the MATC Bookstore or other stores.
- There are other resources for students like the FAST Fund, which is available for students experiencing economic emergencies. Click here to apply.
- Find additional free or low-cost offers from internet service providers on the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin website, as well as a map of public Wi-Fi locations in Wisconsin.
- Connect to the free, MATC Wi-Fi “MATCGUEST” while on campus.
- There are also free outdoor WiFi parking lots available at some MATC locations.
- Computers with Internet access and printing are available in the Academic Support Centers and MATC Libraries.
